Individual Therapy

Folks often come in to Individual Therapy to get help managing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and other concerns. Regardless of the "symptoms" you present with, I see them as adaptive ways of coping with the challenges presented by your environment. As our environment evolves, these coping methods can become outdated. I am here to help you revisit your adaptations, understand how they make sense, and approach yourself with compassion, kindness, and acceptance. From this place, I will support you in creating the meaningful change you want.

Common Themes in Individual Therapy

Life Transitions

Change is constant in our lives, but that doesn't make it easy. Change often brings the unexpected that can be difficult to adjust to. Change also means having to grieve what was. Whether change is something you want or have to go through, I am here to support you.

Relational Challenges

Relationships are arguably our most precious possessions AND they can be so hard at times. Whether it's family, romantic partner(s), friends, or colleagues, many of us could use some help learning communication skills, navigating conflict, setting boundaries, and finding deeper connections with those we love.

Trauma

Trauma is not just an impactful event that was threatening to your physical and/or emotional safety; it is, most importantly, what happened inside you as a result. When, for different reasons, we struggle to fully process the traumatic event(s), it is common to feel stuck while trauma gets in the way of our thriving.

Personal Growth and Self-Discovery

With all the societal norms, cultural influences, trends, generational patterns, messages about who we should be, what's "healthy" and not, and other influences, it can be hard to know who you really are. Therapy is a place where you can safely and freely explore who YOU really are.

Territory Acknowledgement

As a first-generation settler from Belarus, I am privileged to live and practice on the traditional,

ancestral, and unceded territories of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), qʼʷa:n̓ƛʼən̓ (Kwantlen), qiqéyt (Qayqayt), and Stó:lō (Sto:lo) Peoples.

I am grateful for their continued care for these lands, waters, skies, and all that is above and below.

As a mental health care professional, I recognize the impact of systemic racism within institutions

and that counsellors have the responsibility and power to create culturally safe and appropriate environments of care.

I commit to continued learning about the devastating colonial practices in psychotherapy and healthcare

and doing my part in decolonizing the field.
