Sex Therapy

Whether you are coming in to see me for a sex-related concern or for another reason, seeking individual or couples sessions, it is always safe to explore the topic of sex in our sessions. Nothing weirds me out.

I will likely start by normalizing the concerns you have - you are most certainly not alone in this. I will happily offer research-based psychoeducation and relevant tools, exercises, or practices to help resolve the issue, if appropriate. We'll also be able to take a deeper dive into the source of the challenges you wish to address, if needed.

Please note that sex therapy is still talk therapy: any practical suggestions we discuss in session, you will be able to practice privately at home, outside of our sessions.

Common

Sex Therapy Themes

Low or Decreased Desire &
Desire Discrepancy in a Relationship

It is so normal for our desire to fluctuate and be different from our partner's. It can be difficult to navigate, and you don't have to do it alone.

Sexual and Relational Trauma

Sex has so much to do with safety and vulnerability. When trauma is in the picture, it can impact our sex lives significantly.

Sexual and Gender Identity and Expression

I am here to support you through the exploration of who you are, whom and how you love, and how you want to present in the world, while acknowledging the challenges posed by the cis- and heteronormative society.

Orgasm and Arousal Challenges

It can be so frustrating when our bodies don't seem to be collaborating with our desires. We can talk about how this impacts you and your relationship(s), discuss possible solutions, and work towards getting you the pleasure you want.

Low Sexual Confidence and Self-Esteem &
Performance Anxiety

So many expectations posed by societal norms and media messages, and so little evidence-based information. I can help balance it out so you can find pleasure in being in the present.

Unwanted Pain During Sex

The only acceptable amount of unwanted pain during sex is no pain at all. Unless you want pain, nothing should hurt!

Navigating Ethical Non-Monogamy and Polyamory

The more people in the picture, the more emotions, beliefs, expectations, values, and boundaries there are to navigate. It's ok to want support with this!

Exploring BDSM, Kink, and Fetishes

No judgment, just self-expression and consent.

Territory Acknowledgement

As a first-generation settler from Belarus, I am privileged to live and practice on the traditional,

ancestral, and unceded territories of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), qʼʷa:n̓ƛʼən̓ (Kwantlen), qiqéyt (Qayqayt), and Stó:lō (Sto:lo) Peoples.

I am grateful for their continued care for these lands, waters, skies, and all that is above and below.

As a mental health care professional, I recognize the impact of systemic racism within institutions

and that counsellors have the responsibility and power to create culturally safe and appropriate environments of care.

I commit to continued learning about the devastating colonial practices in psychotherapy and healthcare

and doing my part in decolonizing the field.
